Happy Tails

Hi! After talking about adopting a kitten for months, my boyfriendand I came tothe shelter about four weeks ago and absolutely fell in love with the sweetest grey and black tiger striped little girl. We knew from the minute we held her that there was no question that she was the one. We named her Tallulah Belle and call her LuLu, which fits her prissy little loving attitude completely. Fromthe minute we brought her home, she has been an absolutely wonderful addition and got used to her new home with no problems at all! In fact, she is pretty sure that she owns us now! She is 14 weeks old now, a ball of energy, and completely spoiled rotten. She even gives kisses and loves to cuddle. We love having her around and are enjoying watching her grow. Thank you for all that you do and for introducing us to our perfect girl!

This had been a long time coming, but I wanted to write and update you all on the puppy I adopted from you.
I saw the sweetest little pups, 4 of them, on Petfinder. My mixed black lab Potter needed a friend. In December 07, I spoke to Jan about making a day trip to their shelter from Ohio to pick up one of the puppies and take her home that same day. I needed to be at the shelter by 9-10am to pick out the puppy in order for her to spayed prior to my taking her home, as required. I woke up around 1am and drove off where it was snowing in Ohio, then sleeting in Kentucky, and raining in Tennessee. I arrived around 9am and Jan had the litter of 4 dachshund mixes at the front waiting for me to choose. It was hard to pick just one! But I did. I followed her to the vet's office where she was spayed. The office then called me, I picked her up around 1pm and drove home, arriving around 8pm in Ohio.
Winnie is the most darling, spunky, ornery, love bug, little piggy of a dog ever. Whenever she acts up in some manner we tell her southern ladies don't act like that, haha. She loves to eat! One might think as I did she would be smaller being half dachshund, but she's a little tank at 42 pounds! We love her to pieces. She and her "brother" Potter play and play all day long.
We frequent state parks and the two are veteran travelers-they've been to Virginia, New York, Kentucky, Michigan, and Wisconsin on hiking and camping trips, which they love. They've played in the surf and sand of all the Great Lakes except Lake Ontario. I am grateful for Petfinder and Dickson County Humane Society who helped me to find her, and to kind souls such as Jan who helped to make that day go off flawlessly. Thank you!

Hello,
My fiancé and I recently adopted a spunky young male kitten from your shelter. We named him Trax. He has brought so much joy into our lives. We already had an adult female cat and at first they didn't like each other, but now sleep side by side on our bed. We look forward to seeing Trax everyday when we come home. Even on the worst days, Trax brings a smile to our face.

It was one of the best decisions we could have ever made.
From the moment we held him in our arms at the shelter, we feel in love with him. He snuggled up against us and slept in our arms the entire way home.

Once home, he seemed to be in kitty heaven. He ran around, climbing on everything he could but as long as he was close to us.

He is very playful and any body that meets him falls in love with him instantly. We wanted to thank the Humane Society of Dickson County for Trax.

We are eternally grateful.

Hi, my name is Roxie (formerly Roxey). My new adopted family thought it was fate that they found me. They said they used to have a German Shepherd many years ago whose name was Roxie. They said I look alot like her. They told me when I get to my new place, I'd have a sister. They waited for weeks to find just the right playmate for my soon-to-be sister. On our way home (the whole family had to come see me for the first time), I was the most loving thing they had ever seen. I gave doggie-sugars to my new family, I watched out the windows at all the passing scenery and cars. I never even barked but I did get a little bit scared when a loud motorcycle zoomed by us.

When they brought me home, I wasn't so sure about the new situation. My new family wasn't sure they did the right thing either because they thought maybe I wasn't going to be happy. They introduced me to my new step-sister, Queenie. I had a totally different attitude towards Queenie. She was just a curious puppy but I thought I had to be mean to her because I was so used to being around other dogs that might have sometimes been mean to me. Queenie is only three months old (I think I'm at least 6 or 7 months old) and has been by herself the whole time. It took about 4 or 5 days for my new family to convince me that they had just as much love for me as they do Queenie. My new Mommy says she loves how my ears do; one flops forwards and the other flops backwards (I really do try to stand them both up).

I always have plenty of food, I even have my own bowl, my own doghouse and plenty of room to run and play. However, Queenie and I have gotten so close that we even share a bowl and doghouse now. We play all the time. I'm including a picture of me looking at my new family and also one with my new step-sister, Queenie. We get along good now. My new Mommy takes pictures all the time. I'm finally learning to pose for her. There's one more picture I have to tell you about. The pretty girl holding me is Ashley. She's my favorite of my new family (but I love them all), she holds me like a baby and talks to me and rubs my belly. She's already taught me to sit so I can get one of those delicious treats.

Well, just wanted to tell you I'm happy with my new family. They take good care of me...speaking of caring for me, I have to go now. It's time for my visit to the vet.

Hey there! Sorry it has taken me so long to send you an update, I have been meaning to do that. I just wanted to let you know how much we all love Snowball. He is the most wonderful dog! I was a little hesitant at first but now I can't imagine him not being a part of our family. I told my husband this weekend, "I can't believe how much I love this dog already"! When we took him to the vet, they were very impressed with him and his disposition. He does chew on EVERYTHING, but he is so darn cute when he does it, it's hard to get mad. He seems to be potty trained. We only had accidents in the house the first couple of days and that was it. We use the "treat method" (giving him a treat every time he pottys outside and it seems to work really well). Of course, it helps that he is such a smart dog! He obeys very well and has learned several commands. He was sleeping in his crate but is now sleeping in bed with my son. I hope I am not wearing you out but I am attaching a couple of pictures in case you want to see them. Feel free to email me anytime if you have questions about Snowball. I have been hoping his mother was adopted to a loving home as well.

Thank you so much for everything you did for Snowball. We love him so much and he has brought so much laughter and joy into our house (not that we didn't have it before but it seems there is a lot more now)!
